   These are the same two families the site has always used, DM Sans and Space
   Grotesk, both under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits hosting and
   redistribution. The files in assets/fonts/ are the exact WOFF2 payloads
   Google serves; only the URLs in the @font-face rules below have changed.

   Why they are not loaded from fonts.googleapis.com any more:

   A <link> to Google Fonts is not a styling decision, it is a data transfer.
   The browser opens a connection to a Google server before the page has
   painted, and that connection carries the visitor's IP address, their user
   agent and the referring page, to a company in the United States, with no
   consent asked and no way for the visitor to refuse. A German court decided
   exactly this point (LG München I, 20 January 2022, 3 O 17493/20) and awarded
   damages against the site operator, on the reasoning that the transfer was
   avoidable — the fonts could simply have been hosted locally. It is not a
   transfer a cookie banner can fix either, because it happens whether or not
   anyone consents to anything, and a font is not something a visitor can
   sensibly be asked to opt into.

   Hosting them here ends the transfer entirely. There is no request to Google
   from any page of this site, so there is nothing to disclose, nothing to ask
   consent for, and nothing to defend. It is also faster: five files from the
   origin the visitor is already connected to, rather than a DNS lookup, a TLS
   handshake and two round trips to a second host.

   To update a family: fetch the CSS from fonts.googleapis.com with a modern
   browser user-agent, download each .woff2 it names into assets/fonts/, and
   replace the block below with the same rules pointing at the local copies.
